The Delhi government is studying the best educational models from around the world to strengthen the infrastructure of its schools and improve the quality of education. In this direction, on Friday, Education Minister Ashish Sood visited Britannia Village Primary School in London. This school is known as a “Google Reference School” and its teaching approach is inclusive, technology-enabled, and student-centric.
In a post on social media platform X, Sood shared, "This school features 1:1 Chromebook classrooms, an inquiry-based teaching approach, flexible learning spaces, and a strong emphasis on students' mental health — clearly demonstrating that public education can also be made modern and equitable."
He also mentioned that he met with students, teachers, and the Google UK team to understand how such educational models can further enhance the ongoing transformation in Delhi’s CM Shri Schools.
During his visit to London, Sood also toured the Google Accessibility Discovery Centre, where he learned how inclusive technology is making education more accessible for students with disabilities and cerebral impairments.
He said, "We observed how assistive technology is supporting SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students. Teachers are enhancing their skills through various certification programs, and with the help of digital tools, education is being personalized to strengthen children's foundational literacy."
Sood explained that technologies like chin-controlled joysticks, eye-tracking games that develop motor skills, live captioning, and screen readers are now redefining inclusivity in education.
He also stated that the Delhi government is committed to integrating such assistive technologies into its schools and the public education system to ensure that no student is left behind.
Earlier, on June 28, Sood had visited several schools in Surat, Gujarat. There, he observed classroom teaching through smart boards and interacted with students to understand how digital tools are positively impacting their learning experience.
During his visit to Surat, he also inspected the school's AI and robotics lab, where he saw students working hands-on with drones, 3D printers, and advanced sensor-based security systems.
